Social Selling For Beginners

Updated: Nov 15, 2021

Have you heard the term “social selling?” It seems to be the latest buzzword...but what does it really mean?

Social selling is networking!

It comes down to making everyday connections with those around us, both in person and online.

Social selling is building relationships with others, helping them to know, like, and trust you and eventually buy from you or join your business.

Connecting with others in person or through social media is not a once and done conversation. It’s showing genuine care and concern for others, building relationships, and providing a valuable product or service to them that is totally unique because it’s coming from YOU!

In our experience, it is the absolute best way to grow your business!

So, how do you begin? You need to get really clear about your passions and who it is that you want to serve.

The first step is to find out what lights you up!

Ask yourself these three questions:

1. What are your interests?

What are some activities and hobbies that you love? Maybe you are passionate about Mexican cooking, yoga, gardening, or reading. Write down 10 things that interest you.

2. Who is your ideal customer?

Create a specific description of your dream customer or business partner. For example, your ideal customer could be a 35 year old single woman named Amanda who is passionate about exercise, healthy eating, and toxic free living. Her greatest desire is to make a difference in the lives of those around her.

You can even create a physical description of your ideal customer. Keep this close to your work area so you can reference it often and stay on track with who you are selling to.

3. Where does your ideal customer hang out?

Maybe you would find your ideal customer at a health food store or the local gym. They could be hanging out in a healthy eating Facebook Group. Perhaps they like to help at the local soup kitchen or a charity event.

Write down all the details and descriptions that you can think of and before you know it, you will be on your way to successful social selling!

In part two, we’ll show you how to discover ways to network.
